Draft. This is a plain-English working document written to describe how the product actually behaves. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not a substitute for one. Get it reviewed before launch.

What we store

Your email, display name, handle, and an optional bio. A hashed password if you signed up with one — never the password itself. Your subscription state. Which games you saved, played, rated, and reviewed. Save blobs that games hand us on your behalf, capped at 64 KB per game.

A sign-in log: one entry for each password sign-in attempt on your account, recording whether it succeeded, a rough device type (mobile, tablet or desktop) and the country it came from — no IP address and no browser details. We also keep when you last signed in and, roughly, when you were last active. We use these to spot break-ins and abuse. They are kept for as long as your account exists and deleted with it.

Scores you set in games that report them. These appear on that game’s public leaderboard next to your handle (or, if you have no handle, your first name), so anyone can see them.

Friends. If you add friends (by their handle), each of you can see the other’s name, handle, roughly when they were last on Aicade, the last game they played and their best scores. Nobody sees any of that until they have accepted you, and never your email. When a friend beats one of your best scores, or a friend request arrives, we keep a notice for you. If you turn on push notifications, your browser gives us an address its push service delivers to; we keep it against your account only to send those notices, and delete it when you turn them off or the browser says it no longer works.

What games can see

Games run in a sandboxed frame with an opaque origin: no access to Aicade’s cookies, to the page around them, or to your account. The only channel between a game and the platform is a message bridge that carries save data, scores, and a few display settings (such as mute). We never pass a game your email, your name, or who you are.

Games can, however, load files from and send requests to other servers on the internet, just as any web page can. Any server a game contacts sees the technical details every website sees, such as your IP address and browser. Our terms forbid developers from collecting player data that way, and we review games before they list, but we can’t technically block it.

Analytics

We record page views and which game was played, when, and for how long, so developers get paid correctly and the catalogue can be sorted honestly. We store no IP addresses and no browser fingerprints: country comes from the network edge, device is one of three buckets, and the visitor identifier is a salted hash that is regenerated every day.

If you’re signed in, these records are also linked to your account. We don’t currently delete them on a schedule. When your account is deleted, the link to you is removed and what’s left is anonymous counts.

There is no advertising on Aicade, so there are no ad trackers, and Aicade itself sends nothing about you to third parties (games are covered above).

We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles across sites.

Cookies

One session cookie so you stay signed in, one so visits and plays can be counted, and a local preference for your light or dark theme. No advertising cookies.

Your rights

You can delete your account yourself from your account page. That removes your profile, library, saves, reviews, scores and sign-in log; play and analytics records are kept only as anonymous counts.

To ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or for anything else about your privacy, email [email protected].
