Cinder & Rime

Cinder & Rime is a two-player co-op puzzle platformer. Cinder is a living coal: it walks through fire, swims in lava, and a splash of water puts it out. Rime is a cube of frost: it swims in water and melts in lava or flame. Both of you have to reach the door together.

Each has a power. Cinder's flare melts ice, boils water into steam and lights wood, oil, ropes and blast kegs. Rime's frost freezes water into ice bridges, turns lava into basalt you can walk on, seals dripping pipes shut and puts out fires and fuses. Most puzzles need both: freeze a pool so Cinder can cross, boil a basin into a geyser that carries Rime up to a lever, burn the rope that drops a crate onto a plate.

The whole world is a pixel simulation. Water and lava flow, splash, pool and meet in clouds of steam and crusts of basalt. Oil floats on water and burns across the surface. Fire spreads through timber, soil washes away under running water, steam rises and condenses, goo melts everyone. Push crates, ride seesaws, swings and lifts, cut ropes, crumble cracked stone with a slam and blast brick walls with kegs.

Thirty-six levels across six worlds, from Ember Hollow to the Steamworks, each with three marks to earn: reach the door, collect every glimmer, and beat the par time. Then build your own in the level editor, test-play it, save it, and share it with a friend as a code.

Two players on one screen: one on WASD, one on the arrow keys, or a controller each. Playing alone? One controller (or touch) can swap between the two characters. On a tablet, touch controls can split into one set each.
