Kettle Cove

Great-Aunt Hettie has vanished, leaving you her tearoom on the cliffs above Kettle Cove and a note that says only: 'Gone to find the light. Keep the kettle warm.' The Gull & Kettle has seen better days. The windows are boarded up, the terrace is more hole than plank, and the sign is lying in the weeds. Time to put the kettle on.

Tap the generators on your serving tray, a copper kettle, a brick oven, a rock pool, a flower cart, a sweet jar and a toolbox, to make things. Drag two of the same together and they merge into something better: a tea leaf becomes a tea bag, then a mug, a cup and saucer, a teapot, all the way up to a grand brass samovar. There are six chains of ten, sixty items in all, from humble pebbles to a ship in a bottle and a gingerbread lighthouse, every one modelled in 3D with glossy glazes, polished brass and sugar-dusted pastry.

The townsfolk place orders. Captain Mo wants a strong cuppa, Basil the baker needs eggs because his hens are on strike, Dot at the post office collects scallops (and gossip), and Fennick the seagull wants a humbug and a starfish and will not explain why. Serve them for coins and stars, then spend your stars restoring the tearoom: mend the terrace, polish the urn, hang the festoon lights, paint it seafoam and cream. Every restoration pops into place in the 3D scene and opens a new scene of the story.

Three chapters and forty-five story orders take you from a grey morning to a golden afternoon to festival night, as notes in Hettie's handwriting start arriving by seagull and somebody up in the dark lighthouse starts waving a teapot. Energy refills over time, even while you're away, and a short break tops it up if you run dry. Crack open driftwood crates, fill your collection, and collect a morning delivery every day.
